Computer and laptop repairs

What computer problems can you fix?

Mobile Computer Geeks fixes slow computers, viruses and pop-ups, Windows and software errors, Wi-Fi and network problems, email and Microsoft 365 issues, data recovery, and hardware faults in desktops and laptops. See computer repairs.

Why is my computer so slow, and can you fix it?

The most common causes are a nearly full or failing drive, too many programs starting with Windows, malware, pending updates, or an old hard drive that's due for an SSD upgrade. A technician finds the cause, cleans things up, and tells you whether an upgrade is worth it.

My computer won't turn on. What should I do?

Check the power cable, the power point and, for a laptop, the charger. Then hold the power button for 15 seconds and try again. If it still won't start, book a technician: it's often a power supply, battery, charger or drive fault we can test on the spot.

Why is my laptop not charging?

It's usually the charger, the cable, the charging port or a power setting, and sometimes a worn-out battery. Try another power point and check the cable for damage. If it still won't charge, we can test each part and explain the options for your model.

Do you repair laptops?

Yes. We repair and upgrade laptops from all major brands, including HP, Dell, Lenovo, Asus, Acer, Microsoft Surface and Apple, at your home or office. See laptop repairs.

How long does a laptop screen replacement take?

It depends on the screen your model needs. Once we've identified the right part, we'll give you a timeframe before going ahead.

Can you recover data from a dead hard drive?

Often, yes. We recover files from failed, damaged, formatted or accidentally wiped drives across Brisbane. Stop using the device straight away, because continued use can overwrite what's left. See data recovery.

Do you repair Mac computers?

Yes. We help with MacBook and iMac software problems, setup, backups and screen replacements, as well as Windows PCs.

Do you repair gaming and custom-built PCs?

Yes. We diagnose, repair and upgrade gaming and custom-built desktops, including power supplies, SSDs, hard drives and memory.

Can you fix Windows and software problems?

Yes. We fix Windows and macOS errors, failed updates, blue screens, programs that crash or won't open, email problems and malware infections.

Is it worth repairing my old computer?

Often, yes. If your computer is under about five years old, an SSD upgrade, extra memory or a clean-up usually costs far less than a new one. If it's older, can't run a supported version of Windows, or needs an expensive part, replacing it may be better value. We'll give you an honest recommendation.

Do you fix phones and tablets?

We help with phone and tablet software, such as setup, email, syncing, backups and moving to a new device. We don't do physical repairs on phones or tablets, such as cracked screens.

Do you repair printers?

We don't repair printer hardware, but we set up printers, connect them to Wi-Fi, and fix printing problems on your computers and network.

How do I know if my computer needs repairing?

Signs include slowness, error messages, unexpected shutdowns or restarts, strange noises, overheating and programs that crash. If something has changed and a restart doesn't fix it, get it checked before a small problem becomes a bigger one.

Viruses, scams and security

Can you remove a virus from my computer?

Yes. We remove viruses, malware, pop-ups and unwanted programs, check nothing has been left behind, and set up protection so it doesn't happen again. See virus removal.

I think I've been scammed or someone accessed my computer. What should I do?

Disconnect the computer from the internet, don't pay anything, and call your bank straight away if you shared card or banking details. Change important passwords from a different device and report the scam to Scamwatch. Then book a technician to check your computer and remove anything the scammer installed.

How do I protect my computer from viruses and hackers?

Keep Windows or macOS and your apps updated, use reputable antivirus software, use strong unique passwords with two-factor authentication, and be wary of unexpected emails, texts and calls. Microsoft and banks will not call you about a virus. We can check your setup and fix weak spots.

Is Windows 10 still safe to use?

For now, if your PC is enrolled in Extended Security Updates. Microsoft extended free security updates for Windows 10 home PCs to 12 October 2027, but PCs that were never enrolled have had no security fixes since October 2025. Read our Windows 10 update guide.

Networks, setup and maintenance

Can you fix Wi-Fi and internet problems at home or work?

Yes. We fix Wi-Fi dead spots, dropouts and slow connections, set up modems and routers, and connect printers and other devices. We also supply NBN plans.

Can you set up a new computer and transfer my files?

Yes. We set up new computers, move your files and email across, install your programs and printers, and connect everything to your network.

Do you offer computer maintenance?

Yes. A regular check-up keeps updates, backups and security in order and catches problems early. Businesses can include it in a managed IT plan.

Business IT support

What are managed IT services?

Managed IT services means an IT company looks after your business technology for a monthly fee: support for your staff, security, backups, Microsoft 365, devices and networks. Mobile Computer Geeks provides managed IT services for small businesses across Brisbane on tailored monthly plans.

How much do managed IT services cost?

It depends on how many people and devices you have and what's included, so we quote each business after a short call about your setup. If you don't need a monthly plan, you can pay as you go at $160 including GST for the first hour, or buy support hours in advance with no lock-in contract.

Do you provide IT support for small businesses in Brisbane?

Yes. We support small businesses across Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and Redland Bay with computers, Microsoft 365 and email, security, backups, networks, phones and internet. See business IT services.

Do you offer onsite and remote IT support for businesses?

Both. We support your team remotely day to day and come onsite for setups, repairs and projects.

Can you help with Microsoft 365 and business email?
