Help for parents

Start with the way your family uses its devices

Every household is different. We’ll ask about your children’s ages, the devices they use and what you’d like to change. That might be bedtime scrolling, unexpected purchases or knowing which apps they can download.

We’ll explain the options in plain English and agree on useful priorities. If a new phone or tablet needs setting up first, we can help with mobile device setup too.

Computer Training

Need a hand with your computer?

Our local Geeks come to you at home or work, or help remotely, across Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and Redland Bay. No surcharge for same-day, weekend or after-hours appointments, subject to availability. Instant confirmation when you book online.

Put sensible settings in place

Depending on your devices, we can help with tools such as Apple Screen Time, Google Family Link and Microsoft Family Safety. We’ll look at screen-time schedules, age-related content settings, app approvals and purchase permissions.

A router’s controls may also be useful, but they don’t necessarily apply when a device uses mobile data or another network. We’ll explain those limits and agree which devices to work on during your appointment. Wider home network security can be reviewed if needed.

Know how to make changes yourself

We’ll show you how to approve a request, adjust a limit and check the settings we’ve changed. You’ll know which devices are covered and what still needs attention. As school needs and family routines change, you can update the rules without starting again.

Useful tools, backed by family conversations

Controls can reduce unwanted access, but no filter catches everything. Talking about online behaviour and keeping an interest in what children do remains part of the picture. Our aim is to leave you comfortable using the tools, with rules that make sense at home.

The eSafety parental controls guide is a useful place to read more about the options.
